Local language mobile app NewsHunt has acquired analytics and mobile platform company Vauntz for an undisclosed sum.
Based on the simple belief that everyone should be able to read, write and transact on the device of their choice in their favourite language, NewsHunt addresses the problem of the absence of regional content on mobile devices. This flagship product of Verse Innovation claims to offer news from over 100 news sources in 12 languages. The platform has recently forayed into eBooks.
Earlier this year, Newshunt announced its Series C funding of INR 120 crore (US$19.4 million) led by New York-based hedge fund Falcon Edge Capital.

It plans to create new categories in local language like videos, audio, test preparation, local language apps through mix of organic and inorganic efforts. Users pay for downloads through Newshunt’s proprietary payment platform iPayy that is now also being used by third party developers for micro-transactions through carrier billing, shared an official statement.
Vauntz was founded in 2013 by Shreyas Desai, Maruti Borker and Piyush RaiVauntz. The startup has products like Hurricane, a Big Data analytics as a service platform, Hurricane Viz, a YouTube analytics platform and Vaunt.it, an opinion sharing platform.
