Singaporean restaurant reservation platform Chope has integrated queueing service Ticktok. What’s the synergy between the two?
Singapore-based restaurant reservations provider The Chope Group today announced its acquisition of Appic Technologies, a fellow local company behind queuing service Ticktok. The acquisition sum was not disclosed.
For background, Ticktok is a service that helps restaurant patrons make the best use of their time while queueing. Diners can enter their contact details into a branded tablet outside the establishment, monitor the number of people in said queue, and receive an SMS and automated phone call when their turn comes.

Chope, on the other hand, offers the ability to make real-time restaurant reservations with 600 merchants based in Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai. It also previously received an investment of US$2.5 million from Singapore Press Holdings.
Going forward, Chope will integrate Ticktok into its online reservations and marketing platform to offer restaurant owners and patrons a less painful experience of managing queues. According to an official statement, the first phase of the aforementioned integration has been completed; restaurants can now use a single tablet to manage both queues and reservations.
“We started Ticktok because we are foodies at heart,” said Lee Jun Kiat, CEO and Co-founder, Appic, “but popular spots usually require a long and boring wait.”

“We thought that, in this age of smartphones and 4G, there had to be a more mobile-friendly way to queue,” added Lee.
According to the entrepreneur, Ticktok processes “tens of thousands of diners every month”, and is used by “dozens of busy cafes and eateries”. Clients include Department of Caffeine, Symmetry, Tung Lok and Swee Choon Dim Sum.
Arrif Ziaudeen, CEO and Co-founder, Chope sees synergy between the two companies. “We help get around by making reservations easy and 24/7, but now we’re going even further — even if you have to queue, you should be free to wander and relax.”
