Hong Kong-based startup Divide has announced on its company blog that it has been acquired by Google. The amount has not been disclosed.

Divide is an enterprise mobile device management platform that helps organisations get the most out of mobile technology and corporate BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policies.

The blog said, “We’re thrilled to announce that Divide is joining Google!”

The Divide team will join Google’s Android division. The blog further added, “Divide was founded with a simple mission: Give people the best mobile experience at work. As part of the Android team, we’re excited to continue developing solutions that our users love.”

For the existing customers, Divide will continue to work as it always has.

The move is being seen as Google’s attempt to make Android appealing for enterprise customers. However, Divide had also launched an iOS version in 2012.

The company has been co-founded by Andrew Toy, Alexander Trewby and David Zhu, who previously worked with MTV Networks, Morgan Stanley and Smule respectively. Its list of investors include Comcast Ventures, Google Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, Genacast Ventures, High Peaks Venture Partners, NYC Seed, and Bold Start.

According to the company website, Divide’s flagship platform combines cloud-based management with device-level technology that ensures enterprise security and control without compromising personal freedom and privacy.
